After nearly eight years in court, Selleck's father walked away victorious with an undisclosed monetary judgment. But by the time the win in court came, most had already forgotten about the article that was published years prior. Unlike the court battle that Selleck's father undertook against The GlobeSelleck and the publication decided in a mere few weeks after the Three Men and a Baby's lawsuit was filed to settle out of court.

The Globe was required to publish an apology to Selleck for their article in which they insinuated he was gay. They also had to pay monetary damages to the actor in an amount that was never disclosed. Selleck has never been one to back down from a fight where he believes his character, integrity, or the like is being attacked.
